Hatu Peak , Tani Jubbar lake and Cafe Wadi Nakanda by Tethys

So recently I was in Shimla for 4 days  with family and on one of the days one of the hotel staff suggested we go to Hatu Peak which is around 2.5 hours away from Shimla by car. I agreed and we set off around 12 noon . Our plan was to go to Hatu Peak, Tani Jubbar Lake which is near Hatu peak and then stop in Taj Theog on the way back .
Around 1.30 pm we stopped for a break in a place called Matiana and we realized the car had a flat and even the spare tire didn’t have air in it so the driver took the tyres for repair while we waited in an empty restaurant which had no service at all, the only good thing about this restaurant was the clean loo. On google I saw that a very nice cafe called Khadu cafe was just a short distance away but we didn’t want to walk it so we stayed put where we were and waited for the Driver to come back.

Along the way we saw a lot of apple trees which were covered with white nets to save them from Frostbite. I am sure these trees look very beautiful when they are laden with apples n july- september.

Soon we were on our way and we reached Narkanda around 2.30 pm . Narkanda is well known for it’s sking in the winters and i’s quite a famous place in Himachal. We reached Hatu Peak late in the afternoon and the drive from Narkanda to Hatu Peak is all uphill and as we neared our destination we found plenty of Snow along the way as you can see from the video below.

We reached our destination in the late afternoon.

One Important thing to note about Hatu Peak is that the Hatu Mata temple isn’t very far from where the car park is, maybe its around 100 meters and very little incline , so you don’t have to walk far or uphill to reach the Temple

As we made the short walk to the temple from the car park I was struck by how serene the place was and there were not many people around. The temple complex itself was spotless and the whole vibe was of the place was very soothing and relaxing.

The views of the Snow Capped Mountain ranges from the peak were amazing and we were simply mesmerized by it.

Hatu Peak must be on your list of places to visit if you are visiting Shimla or nearby areas.

There was a lot of snow covered areas around the car park there and after playing around in the snow for some time we started on our way to our next destination the Tani Jubbar lake which was around 25-30 minutes away . We soon reached the lake and to be honest, I was quite disappointed by how small it was. To me it seemed more pond than lake and there was nothing, but absolutely nothing around it and there was nobody around too, doesn’t seem like a very popular place to be honest, although we did see a food van which is apparently run by a lady who I have heard  serves delicious local food. Although the lake area was quite calm and placid, I found it quite underwhelming and frankly, not worth the time.

By this time it was early evening and we hadn’t had lunch or anything substantial in some time and were on the lookout for a cafe. I had found a cafe called  Cafe Wadi Narkanda on google and that’s where we headed next, it was located just outside the Narkanda town. When we reached there we found it was part of Tethys Ski Resort which is a well known resort.  The outdoor cafe itself was quite well appointed with a nice ambience and had good clean loos and a welcoming staff although it was empty at that time. We ordered a few Maggis  , a large burger and some Pahadi Chai ( mountain tea ) for everyone . The food came soon enough and maybe we were very hungry but the maggi was some of the best i have ever had, superbly made and the burger and the tea was excellent too and the service was top notch. Certainly a must visit place if you are in the area.

After having our food  we set back towards our hotel in Shimla, it was too late to go Taj Theog and anyway we had our fill in Cafe Wadi Narkanda.

Here are some of the pictures from that day and do let me know what you think of them in the comments below.
