Goa in the Rains…..Trip to Chapora Fort

You can read my latest blog about Divar island here and about kayaking in goa here  and about Hosa & Purple Martini here .

In the past few years, I have had the good fortune to visit Goa several times. I have been there in March, October , June and August. While it is true that there is never a bad time to go to Goa ( except maybe Xmas and New Year ? ) I have yet to see anyplace on earth as green as beautiful as Goa in the Rains. It is as if  it gets transformed into Eden itself and everywhere you go there is a cornucopia of greenery and nature’s beauty at its best..

On my first day of the trip, I headed to Chapora fort by taxi.

Perched high above the blue waters where the Chapora River meets the Arabian Sea, Chapora Fort is one of Goa’s most iconic viewpoints. Built in the 17th century, the fort itself is mostly in ruins today, but its charm lies in the dramatic panoramas it offers — sweeping views of Vagator Beach, the rugged coastline, and endless stretches of palm-fringed hills. The short hike to the top is rewarded instantly with cool sea breezes and some of the best sunset scenes in North Goa.

Chapora Fort isn’t just a historic site; it’s a place to pause, breathe, and take in the raw beauty of Goa from above. Whether you’re here for photos, quiet reflection, or simply to enjoy the landscape, this hilltop fort makes every visit feel memorable.

This picture was taken from top of Chapora fort, where the famous scenes from Dil Chahta hai were shot

While it is a steep climb to the top of Chapora Fort..

the view in all 4 directions from the top of the fort will make you forget the physical effort you spent..

Below gallery shows some of the pictures I took on that rainy day…
