Stay at Taj Holiday Village , North Goa

While there are many  luxury properties in North Goa , the one that fascinates me the most is the Taj Holiday Village.

Recently we were celebrating a special occasion and I thought this would be a perfect to escape from the metropolis and booked a 3 day stay at my favorite resort in India.

It took around an hour to get to the hotel from Dabolim Airport and this time is par for the course.
While I had booked a base category room, one of my close friends who works with Taj group very kindly called the property in advance informing them of the special occasion and got is upgraded to the above villa and a royal welcome.

The villa had a red carpet along with guitar players and several senior staff of the property waiting for us.

The housekeeping staff had done their magic and decorated the bed and the villa very well, there was cake, gifts and savories along with a huge fruit basket waiting for us.

As as had a long flight and a drive, we called for  a light lunch in the villa itself and the food came quite promptly.

It was a veritable feast to have lunch with  views of the sea.

It seems a big wedding was scheduled for the next day and preparations were being made for that. Nearly a 100 people had come for that wedding to the hotel but to the hotel’s credit we never felt disturbed or imposed upon by the wedding. If anything, it added to the atmosphere.

Very soon it was sunset and headed out to towards the deck and near the Caravela restaurant to click some pics and boy was it a glorious sunset or what.

Over the next fews days we went to see the sunset both from the deck and down a few steps to the beach the view was mesmerizing to say the least as you can see from the pictures and the videos below and above.

The resort has at  3 restaurants, The Beach House for “A contemporary approach to Goan-Portuguese cooking” , Caravela, the 24 hour diner and The Banyan Tree , one of the most acclaimed Thai restaurants in Goa, apart from the bar Drift.

Since we had food at so many other places, ( see the earlier blog.. ) we only sampled the fare at Caravela where botht he breakfast and the Buffet Lunch was outstanding. The food at Caravela was flavorsome and delectable and despite ebing filled with guests, the service there was prompt and efficient.

There was a wonderful Gym overlooking the sea which I didn’t get the time to try out and the pool and the sunken bar looked straight out of a Goa postcard.

3 Days got over all too soon and it left us wanting for more. All in all I don’t remember when I have had a better holiday and I think there are very few properties across India that can match the charm of the Taj Holiday Village.

Here are some of the pictures I took of the property and of the Sinquerim Beach, do let me know what you think in the comments below.

Here is a very Interesting articles by Vir Sanghvi about how Goa became what it is today & how Taj Fort Aguada & Holiday Village came into being, I found it a very fascinating read..
