So last month while I was in Atlanta, I was looking around for art exhibitions and came across an ad for “The Van Gogh Immersive Experience” at Pullman Yards, Atlanta. This digital exposition was being held simultaneously in many cities in the US and it was awarded best 2021 immersive experience by USA Today and ranked among the 12 best immersive experiences in the world by CNN
I saw this in the first week of Jan 2022 and it has closed in Atlanta since then and will be reopening in March 2022 in a new location . To book your tickets and know more, click here…

So I booked the tickets and took a cab to Pullman yards..
I have never been to very many of these Virtual Exhibitions but what I saw I experienced that day cannot be done justice to by any words, pictures or videos. I do not use the words lightly when i say that it was an life altering experience…
To be in a huge hall where the works and animated paintings of the great Van Gogh were being projected on the 3 walls of the hall was just beyond words…see the video below to get an idea of how it was…
The Virtual projections and the videos covered every aspect of the great painter’s life and if you think you know about him well, after seeing the exhibition you will see his paintings and his life in a new light…
I would like to emphasize that this show is not just for those who have an interest in art and painting , just about anyone would be spellbound by this..

Where to Stay in Atlanta: Five Places
Atlanta is spread out, so staying in Midtown or Downtown keeps you close to MARTA and most sights; Pullman Yards is a short cab ride from either. Rates below are indicative starting points from published listings and booking sites, and they climb on big event weekends.

- The Georgian Terrace Hotel (historic) — A 1911 landmark across the street from the Fox Theatre, with a rooftop pool and lots of old-world character. Typically about $180–300 a night.
- Hotel Clermont (boutique) — A quirky, beautifully restored boutique hotel in Poncey-Highland with a great rooftop bar, a short ride from Pullman Yards and next to the BeltLine. Expect roughly $200–350 a night.
- Moxy Atlanta Midtown (budget-friendly) — Fun, compact rooms and a lively lobby bar in the heart of Midtown, handy for MARTA trains. Rates often run about $130–220 a night.
Where to Eat in Atlanta: Seven Places
Atlanta is a brilliant food city, and a couple of these are places I keep going back to. Prices are rough per-person estimates.
- Chai Pani, Decatur (Indian street food) — Honestly, the best Indian food I have had in the USA. Chaat, bhel, kale pakoras, okra fries and thalis that taste like home, and it is Michelin-recommended and a James Beard award winner too. Most plates are about $10–20.
- Madras Mantra, Decatur (South Indian vegetarian) — A fully vegetarian South and North Indian spot, and their Sunday brunch is amazing: dosas, idlis, vadas and plenty more. There is also a branch in Marietta. Expect about $15–25 per person.
- Ponce City Market Food Hall (food hall) — A huge food hall inside an old Sears building on the BeltLine, with everything from tacos to ramen to Indian stalls, plus a rooftop with city views. Most meals cost about $12–25.
- Mary Mac’s Tea Room (Southern classic) — Serving Southern comfort food since 1945: fried chicken, collard greens, mac and cheese and complimentary pot likker with cornbread. Entrées are around $20–30.
- The Varsity (Atlanta icon) — The world’s largest drive-in, open since 1928, famous for chili dogs, onion rings and the Frosted Orange. A full meal usually comes in under $15.
- Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q (barbecue) — Texas-style brisket, smoked wings and tater tots smothered in brisket chili, a local favourite in Candler Park. Plates run about $18–30.
- Busy Bee Cafe (soul food) — A soul food institution since 1947, loved for its fried chicken, oxtails and sweet potato pie. Expect about $15–25 a plate.
Five Best Places to See in Atlanta
If you have a day or two beyond the Van Gogh exhibition, these are the places I would put at the top of the list. Ticket prices are approximate and change with the season.
- High Museum of Art — If the Van Gogh experience gets you in an art mood, this is the next stop: the Southeast’s leading art museum in a striking white building in Midtown. Adult tickets are about $20.
- Atlanta Botanical Garden — Next to Piedmont Park, with a canopy walk through the trees, orchid and tropical conservatories and seasonal light shows in winter. Tickets are roughly $30, a little more at weekends.
- Georgia Aquarium — One of the largest aquariums in the world, with whale sharks, manta rays and beluga whales. Tickets start from about $45 when booked online.
- Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park — Dr King’s birth home, Ebenezer Baptist Church and the King Center on Auburn Avenue. Moving and well worth a few hours, and entry is free.
- Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail — A walking and cycling trail lined with murals, cafés and street art that links Ponce City Market, Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park. Free, and best on a sunny afternoon.
