Kerala Calling Part 2 : Kochi, Munnar & Kumarakom

Last Updated on November 15, 2025 by admin

So in my previous post I wrote about my trip to Kochi and Kumarakom, not long after that I had another opportunity to go to Kerala, This  time to Munnar and Kumarakom apart from Kochi.

At Kochi we stayed at Fort House Hotel.

Fort House Hotel: Intimate Charm on the Water’s Edge

Tucked along the serene waterfront of Fort Kochi, Fort House Hotel is a boutique gem that proves the best experiences often come in small packages.

This converted Dutch bungalow exudes understated elegance with just a handful of rooms, each opening onto views of the harbor where Chinese fishing nets frame passing boats and the occasional dolphin breaks the surface. The hotel’s greatest asset is its intimate scale — you’re not just another guest here, but part of a carefully curated experience where staff remember your name and the restaurant serves some of Fort Kochi’s finest seafood on a candlelit waterfront terrace.

Fort House captures the essence of old Kochi—unhurried, authentic, and utterly charming—making it the perfect base for exploring the historic lanes of Fort Kochi while feeling like you’ve discovered your own secret corner of this magical city.

At Kumarakom we booked the Taj Kumarakom which is a beautiful, expansive property

Taj Kumarakom Resort & Spa: Luxury Afloat on Vembanad Lake

Sprawled across 18 acres of manicured gardens along the tranquil shores of Vembanad Lake, Taj Kumarakom is where Kerala’s backwater beauty meets world-class luxury.

Elegant villas inspired by traditional Kerala architecture feature private pools and verandas that open directly onto serene water views, while the property’s lush grounds are crisscrossed by canals you can explore by complimentary canoe.

The resort’s has Jiva Spa, where ancient Ayurvedic treatments are performed in overwater pavilions to the gentle lapping of the lake.

Dining here is quite an experience in itself—from farm-to-table cuisine at Ettukettu to sunset cocktails at the infinity pool overlooking the backwaters.

Here are some of the pics from that trip, do let me know what you think of them.
